TikTok is an excellent platform for creating and uploading short videos online. The platform allows its users to upload videos of up to 3 seconds to 3 minutes.

For those who don’t want to upload any content, they can share videos of their favorite content creators using the share button.

However, not every content creator is a famous influencer who gets tons of likes and shares. Some people on TikTok may just have private accounts and have privacy concerns. Others may just be running ad campaigns on TikTok working to maximize their marketing potential.

In any case, knowing who shares your TikTok videos can be very helpful, whether in keeping your privacy or in maximizing your marketing potential. For influencers, it can help them better understand their audience and create more engaging content.

So, can you see who shared your TikTok video? Let’s answer the question.

Can you see who shared your TikTok video?

Unfortunately, no. You cannot see who shared your TikTok video even by using TikTok analytics. However, TikTok allows you to see how often an individual video has been shared.

The “Share” stats of a TikTok video are public. That means other people can see how many times your TikTok video was shared. If you wish to hide your TikTok shares from people who don’t follow you, you can set your account to private instead of public.

Can you prevent people from sharing your TikTok?

TikTok doesn’t give you an option to only disable sharing on your TikTok videos. However, if you want to prevent certain individuals from watching or sharing your videos, you can either block them or set your account to private.

You can also set individual videos to private mode while the rest of your account stays public. This way, you can prevent certain users who don’t follow you from watching or sharing your videos.

Let’s see how you can set your account and videos to private. I will also discuss how you can block someone.

Here’s how to set your TikTok account to private

To set your TikTok account to private, follow these steps:

    1. Open TikTok and go to your profile
    2. Tap on the three-lined button in the top-right corner
    3. Next, tap Settings and privacy
    4. Tap on Privacy
    5. Toggle on the button next to Private account

This will set your account to private and the users who don’t follow you will not be able to watch and share your content.

Here’s how to set your TikTok video to private

To set your TikTok video to private, follow these steps:

    1. Open TikTok and go to your profile
    2. Open the video you want to set as private
3. Tap on the three-dotted icon below the “add-to-favorites” icon (looks similar to a bookmark icon). A drawer menu will appear with sharing options and a bunch of other features at the bottom like “Analytics” and “Save video.”
    4. Scroll rightwards at the bottom of the menu till you find Privacy settings and tap it
    1. Choose your preferred privacy settings

This will allow you to set your TikTok videos to private so that other users can’t watch or share them.

Here’s how to block someone on TikTok

Blocking is your only option to prevent certain individuals from sharing your TikToks if you don’t want to change the privacy of your account and videos. Here’s how to block someone:

    1. Navigate to the account you want to block. You can search for the account via the search option
    2. Tap the Share icon in the top-right corner of the profile
    3. Tap Block to block the user

By doing so, the blocked individual will not be able to access your videos and share them.

How to check Shares on your TikTok videos

Apart from preventing people from sharing your videos, you can also check how many people have shared them.

I will discuss two ways to check your TikTok shares: Check the number of shares through videos or TikTok’s analytics.

    1. Check your TikTok shares through Video

Here’s how to check your TikTok shares through videos.

    1. Open the TikTok app
    2. Visit your profile
    3. Tap on the required video to open it in full-screen
    4. Tap on More insights in the bottom-right corner and check the shares

The more insights feature will display additional stats that you will find helpful.

    2. Check your TikTok shares through TikTok Analytics

Before you can access and use TikTok analytics, you must have uploaded one public video on your TikTok account. If you already have a public video, here’s how you can see its number of shares using analytics:

    1. Open the TikTok app
    2. Visit your profile
    3. Tap on the three-lined button in the top-right corner
    4. Tap on Creators tools
    5. Tap on the  View all >  option that appears to the right side of “Analytics”
    1. Tap on Content right next to the Overview tab
    2. Tap the video you want to analyze

TikTok analytics show you the shares and other stats of your TikTok videos. Note that, it takes up to 1 or 2 days for analytics to fetch data about an upload after its publishing.
