    About the Rumor

In 2020, a rumor started to spread among TikTok users about TikTok secretly posting user drafts. Over time, several people claimed that their drafts were leaked and said that TikTok was responsible.

For context, a draft is an unpublished video that other users cannot view except the creator.

It is 2024, and some people are still searching if TikTok is posting their drafts. The concern is legitimate because everybody has a right to privacy. And besides, a rumor out there suggesting that your private videos might be getting leaked is concerning indeed. So, is TikTok posting drafts?

    Is TikTok posting drafts?

The short answer to the question is no. We cannot simply say that TikTok is leaking its users’ drafts without sufficient evidence. While any actual leaked drafts on TikTok (as alleged) may have not been found, most people only posted videos concerning that the rumor might be true.

So, the content that is in circulation on the internet about TikTok drafts is mostly about suspecting that the rumor might be true.

Some TikTok users claimed that their drafts did actually get leaked. However, even if their drafts were leaked, it still doesn’t prove that TikTok was behind it. Most social media platforms prioritize user data privacy and security and TikTok has clarified this in an official tweet concerning the matter.

Another factor is that TikTok drafts are only saved on a user’s device and not on TikTok’s servers. This means that TikTok cannot access your drafts, let alone publish them. So the drafts may have gotten leaked due to a bug, hacking, or human error.

Thus, so far we can only say that the rumor about TikTok leaking drafts is not true.

    Should you be worried?

It is natural to be concerned about privacy. After all, nobody wants their drafts to be leaked. On the other hand, it is only unhealthy to worry over a rumor that hasn’t even been proven true.

But if you’re still worried about it, here is what you can do to safeguard your privacy.

    What you can do

There is one thing you can do to protect your videos from getting leaked and that is to discard all the drafts you’ve saved and not save any more drafts in the future.

To delete your drafts in TikTok, follow these steps:

    • Open TikTok.
    • Open your Profile.
    • Tap on the video section. If you have created any drafts, they will appear in the video section of your profile.
    • Tap on the draft you wish to delete. The draft section will open.
    • Tap and hold the draft again. The delete option will appear at the bottom of the screen.
    • Tap on Delete. A confirmation message will appear. Tap Delete again to confirm your decision and successfully delete the draft.

    Conclusion

The rumor concerning TikTok leaking its users’ drafts dates back to the year 2020.

Despite the continuous circulation of the rumor, there is not enough evidence to support the claim that TikTok might be posting its users’ drafts.

Drafts are saved on the user’s device, and not on the TikTok servers. So, rest assured. We can safely say that the platform cannot access your drafts.

Privacy is a legitimate concern. Nobody wants their content to be leaked. On the flip side, don’t let unauthentic rumors affect your mental well-being.

If you’re still worried, you can ensure your privacy is not compromised by deleting your drafts. You can delete your saved drafts by following the steps given in this article.
